But when you come to Stockholm and go to the metro, what you see is this:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8646.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">Skanstull<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Not all stations are fantastic, you must know where to go. I will get to the good ones, but will start with the other things.<\/p>\n<p>The station entrances are denoted with the letter T, because metro is a “tunnel road” (tunnelbana). The entrance from the central rail station:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8587.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">T-Centralen<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In Swedish, the definite article is expressed as a suffix, including <i>-n<\/i>, so sometimes you see a funny word tunnelbanan (“the tunnel road”):<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-IMG_4099.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>The entrance in the old town:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8666.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">Gamla stan<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another one in the central part of the city:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8625.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">Medborgarplatsen<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The “T” thing itself is of a very nice form:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8668.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">Gamla stan<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>And it is glowing at night:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8909.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<div class=\"e2-text-caption\">Slussen<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>A lift at one of the stations:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8755.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>The map of the metro and suburban trains:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8574.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>You can find the stations Skanstull, Medborgarplatsen, Slussen, Gamla stan in the centre.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket machines:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8583.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>There is a unified graphic style for the transport system. I will show the airport and the central railway station later. They all use the same font, the Swedish text is always white and the English one is yellow. But on the metro, only the posters follow this style. Other elements are inconsistent in their design.<\/p>\n<p>Let’s get it. A beautiful font:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8923.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>A platform. The letters on the display are gigantic. Looks right:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8928.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>This display informs about escalator direction:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-IMG_4106.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>One of the platforms at T-Centralen, where the central railway station is:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8935.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>A station name:<\/p>\n<div class=\"e2-text-picture\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/ilyabirman.net\/meanwhile\/pictures\/stockholm-metro-DSCF8934.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now let me guide you to a more impressive platform at the same station.
