Wayfinding elements for “Parus” station

The Chelyabinsk Meteorite fell into Lake Chebarkul, for which reason the local authorities have decided to enhance the tourist appeal of the Parus water station. We drew the area map and designed several signs.

The map answers the main question: “What am I supposed to do here?”.

The text says: “Visit the place where the Chelyabinsk Meteorite fell: in summer by boat and in winter, when the lake freezes over, by foot. In summer you can also go paddleboarding or have a picnic in the fresh air. In winter, try ice-hole bathing if you are brave — have a place to warm up and drink tea afterwards!”

Along the way, we made some minor navigational elements, starting with the welcoming signage:

We’ve also made informational signs about various objects in the area:

Including an 18th century Cossack hut:

And objects related to the meteorite itself:

The signs explain where the meteorite fell and give some of its parameters like mass and speed.

The graphic style references the Chelyabinsk Meteorite brand (yes, there is such a thing), but looks calmer.
